For the sixth year in a row, Cambridge-Isanti Schools has been recognized as a Minnesota PBIS Sustaining Exemplar District for a continued commitment to creating positive, supportive learning environments for students.

This recognition is given to districts that consistently use Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and show strong results for students. To qualify, a district must also demonstrate solid coordination, training, coaching, and evaluation across all of its schools.

PBIS provides staff with a shared approach for teaching clear expectations, recognizing positive choices, and offering extra support when students need it. A strong component of the district's PBIS framework is its alignment with the Bluejacket Character Traits, which help create consistent expectations for students across all schools. The goal is to create a school environment that is positive, predictable, and safe, so every student feels supported and ready to learn.

"We are excited to continue the strong tradition of PBIS at Cambridge-Isanti Schools," said Tracy Hare, Interim Director of Teaching and Learning. "Our commitment to these practices helps create safe, supportive, and welcoming environments where every student can feel connected, supported, and empowered to grow."

This achievement connects directly to two of the district's strategic priorities: fostering positive personal relationships and improving the mental health and well-being of students and staff. It also reflects a core belief that guides the district's work — that strong communities and schools support each other. Across all buildings, staff and teachers work together to build strong school communities, celebrate student growth, and help students develop the skills they need to succeed. Families are valued partners in this effort as well, reinforcing positive behavior both at school and at home.

"When students know what is expected, feel supported by the adults around them and have the tools they need to be successful, they are able to focus more on learning. PBIS has helped us build that consistency across our schools. The partnership between our staff, students and families has allowed these practices to become part of our Bluejacket Way and, ultimately, strengthen the educational experience we provide for every student," said Dr. Nate Rudolph, Superintendent of Cambridge-Isanti Schools. 

Earning this award year after year proves how strong and steady these systems have become.

"Implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) isn't just about responding to behavior; it's about building an environment where every student feels supported and ready to learn," said Erin Engness, North Regional Implementation Project Coordinator. "Earning PBIS Exemplar status reflects a dedication to equitable, data-informed practices and sustained implementation fidelity. The Northern Region of Minnesota PBIS is proud to celebrate these schools and districts for their leadership in using data-driven strategies to foster safe and inclusive spaces that help meet the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of every student."

Six straight years of this recognition reflect the ongoing commitment of Cambridge-Isanti students, staff, and families. The district remains proud of the Bluejacket community and its continued dedication to supporting every student, every day.
